This paper outlines a basic policy and guidance for Public Health Agency (PHA) staff on producing accessible information. This recognises that the PHA is a geographically and functionally diverse organisation and it is vital we have consistent, good practice approaches to support accessibility when producing information. The guidelines do not attempt to cover every situation or need. Rather they are an attempt to describe a few simple, straightforward, common sense and often inexpensive steps that can be taken. This guidance is intended as an interim solution to help staff ensure that information is provided in a way that is acceptable, accessible and can be understood by our diverse audience. Further development will continue, including consultation and engagement with groups with an interest and knowledge in this area. Communications and equality staff are available to provide further advice or explanation.
