PHA - boil drinking water in Ballymoney area

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is liaising with Northern Ireland Water and can confirm that a ‘Boil water’ notice is still in force until further notice to around 3000 properties in the Ballymoney area as a precautionary measure. The areas concerned are:

Ballymena Road area of Ballymoney town, Bann Road, Bendooragh, Balnamore, Finvoy and Ballymoney.

Dr Lourda Geoghegan, Consultant in Health Protection, PHA said, “All water to be used for drinking, preparing food, brushing teeth, used in baby formula and making ice cubes, for example, should be boiled and cooled before use, in the affected areas of Ballymoney. People should also take care with boiled water, to avoid burns and scalds.

“The PHA will continue to work closely with Northern Ireland Water to provide advice in resolving this situation.”

Further information can be found on the Northern Ireland Water service website, www.niwater.com. Northern Ireland Water customers in the Ballymena area can also use the post code checker on this site to check the status of their own water supply.
