About screening

Screening is offered to certain groups of people who do not have symptoms. It can help identify people who may be at increased risk of a condition so that further tests, advice or treatment can be offered where needed.

Women and people with cervix aged 50 to 64 are invited for cervical screening every five years.

For more information access Cervical cancer screening page.

Age 50 to 70 - breast screening

Women aged 50 to 70 who are registered with a GP are invited for breast screening every three years. If you are over 70, you can contact your local breast screening unit to request screening every three years.

For more information access Breast screening page.

Age 60 to 74 - bowel cancer screening

Men and women aged 60 to 74 who are registered with a GP are invited for bowel cancer screening every two years and are sent a screening kit to complete at home.
