Directorate of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions

This directorate is responsible for:

  • nursing, midwives, allied health professionals, service and public health issues;
  • the Health and Social Care Safety Forum;
  • the Centre for Connected Health and Social Care;
  • Local Supervising Midwifery Authority.

Through the directorate the PHA provides:

  • regional leadership for Personal and Public Involvement and for Patient Client Experience;
  • regional leadership for quality and safety.

Nursing incorporates health visiting, health care assistants and other support staff, while midwifery includes midwives and maternity support workers. Allied health professionals represent art therapists, dietitians, dramatherapists, music therapists, occupational therapists, orthoptists, orthotists, paramedics, physiotherapists, podiatrists, prosthetists, radiographers, and speech and language therapists.
