This risk assessment tool is for use by midwives, family nurses, GPs, social care and health visitors. It has been developed using the evidence base regarding sudden infant death and associated risk factors.
This guidance includes current evidence-based advice that should be discussed with parents/carers when addressing safer sleeping. It aims to provide health practitioners with information that promotes standardised practice.
Safer sleeping advice for parents during the festive period
Ahead of the Christmas holidays, the Public Health Agency (PHA) is reminding parents and carers of young babies of the importance of following safer sleep advice to reduce the risk of sudden infant death.
This leaflet and poster provide information on the risks of sudden infant death. The leaflet has also been updated to highlight the risk of co-sleeping.
