Living Well: Winter vaccines campaign


Over 500 local community pharmacies across Northern Ireland are supporting the winter vaccines campaign that aims to encourage all those eligible for the flu vaccine and COVID-19 booster to make themselves aware of the winter vaccine arrangements and to come forward for vaccination. The campaign is part of the ‘Living Well’ service and will run from mid-October to the end of November.

Living Well is a community-based pharmacy service delivered by the Public Health Agency (PHA), Department of Health (DoH) and Community Pharmacy Northern Ireland (CPNI). The service supports you in improving your health and wellbeing by:

•    raising awareness of various public health messages and campaigns;
•    sharing of health and wellbeing information;
•    signposting to a relevant health professional, service or support in the community;
•    and using behavioural interventions, if appropriate.

Through the Living Well service, pharmacies help you to address risk factors that contribute to disease in Northern Ireland.

The Living Well ‘Protect yourself this winter’ vaccination campaign will also support the mass media public information campaign which will be running from early November. The campaign is primarily aimed at everyone aged 50 years or over, pregnant or who have an underlying health condition to take up the offer to protect themselves and their loved ones this winter. The campaign highlights that the flu virus changes every year and protection from the COVID vaccine can fade overtime so it is really important to boost your immunity with the winter vaccines when offered.
