Mpox clade II United Kingdom 1 January 2023 to 30 April 2025, total of 508 cases of Mpox clade IIb reported in the UK. Of these, 470 in England, 19 were in Scotland, 10 were in Wales, and 9 were in Northern Ireland. View report
Measles United States There have been 14 outbreaks reported in 2025, and 90% of confirmed cases (977 of 1,088) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 16 outbreaks were reported during 2024 and 69% of cases (198 of 285) were outbreak-associated. View report
Measles Canada On 2nd June 2025, 2,755 confirmed and probable cases in 2025.​ In week 21 there were 244 new cases (233 confirmed, 11 probable). View report
Tick-borne ecephalitis virus Belgium Findings published on May 20th, 2025 described the first detection of TBEV in questing ticks collected in Belgium by Rt -qPCR in 2024. The ticks were collected at a location where a previous TBE case had reported being bitten. View report
Anthrax Thailand Five cases of cutaneous anthrax, including one death in Thailand, were notified to the World Health Organisation in May 2025. All cases had direct contact with cattle suspected to be infected with anthrax.​ View report
Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever Spain On 28 May 2025, the Castile and Leon Regional Government reported a confirmed case of Crimean Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) in Salamanca, Spain. ​ The case, a 70 year old male, was exposed through a tick bite and currently remains hospitalised in isolation. ​ View report
Avian influenza A(H5N1) Cambodia On 27 May 2025, the Cambodian Ministry of Health reported a fatal case of avian influenza A(H5N1) in an 11-year-old child from My Kraing commune, Samrong Tong district, Kampong Speu province. The case had been exposed to sick chickens and ducks around their home 7 days prior to symptom onset. ​ Health officials have commenced active case searching and have provided antivirals (tamiflu) to close contacts. SARS-CoV-2 Global On 28 May 2025, WHO published a Disease Outbreak News article to highlight recent trends in SARS-CoV-2 activity. ​ Since February 2025, test positivity from 73 global sentinel sites have increased to 11%, a level not seen since July 2024. This rise has primarily been seen in countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, South-East Asia, and Western Pacific regions.​ The circulation of the LP.8.1 variant has declined with NB.1.8.1 increasing to 10.7% of global sequences reported by mid-May 2025. The recent increase in SARS-CoV-2 activity has been consistent with levels reported from the same period in 2024, however, a seasonal pattern remains unclear. View report
