The Public Health Agency incident team managing an outbreak of E coli 0157 at Holly House nursery has agreed to its reopening. The PHA and its partner organisations have worked with staff within the nursery to agree changes and have reinforced good infection prevention and control measures.The PHA will continue to monitor the situation closely. Infection control training for nursing home staff
The Public Health Agency’s (PHA) Health Care Associated Infections (HCAIs) Team held a training and information session for local Nursing and Residential home staff in the Southern area on Monday, 6 September. The training addressed the importance of implementing the cleanyourhands hand hygiene campaign and provided expert advice on the management of HCAIs.
Allotment funding opportunity for community groups in the west
The Public Health Agency is inviting applications from community organisations for two grants of £10,000 for the development of allotments within the Omagh and Fermanagh areas.
E. coli O157 outbreak – update
The Public Health Agency (PHA) is continuing to investigate an outbreak of E coli O157 at Holly House nursery in the Lurgan area. A further two cases of infection have been identified through routine screening of household contacts. This brings the total number of cases to 14. None of the cases has been seriously ill.

Focus on Health Inequalities (27 October 2010 – 24 November 2010) is a programme of events to highlight innovative action being taken by the Public Health Agency, together with partners, to address health inequalities and the wider determinants of health and wellbeing across Northern Ireland.
