The Public Health Agency’s (PHA) Western office today unveiled the hidden talents of its employees at their premises in Gransha Park House, Derry-Londonderry at the opening of their art exhibition. The PHA is now urging other workplaces across Northern Ireland to contribute to staff development by encouraging their employees to unleash their creative talents and submit arts and crafts that could be displayed in public areas, providing a happy, healthy and inviting workplace.

Important advice to pregnant women during lambing season

The first lambs appearing in the fields is a sign that spring is on its way, so the Public Health Agency (PHA) is reminding pregnant women about the risk of close contact with sheep during lambing season. Pregnant women who come into close contact with sheep during lambing may be risking their own health and that of their unborn child from infections that can be transferred from ewes. It is also important to note that cows and goats which have recently given birth can also carry similar infections.

The report also provides information on surveillance methods and data for each hospital and Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland.

What are the next steps for cancer services in Northern Ireland?

The ‘Cancer collaboration in action’ conference, hosted by the Public Health Agency (PHA), the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and the Northern Ireland Cancer Network (NICaN) at Mossley Mill brought together over 125 health care professionals and representatives from the community and voluntary sector to reflect on findings and recommendations for cancer services in Northern Ireland.

Cancer collaboration in action

Experts from across Northern Ireland will gather today [Wednesday 20 February] to examine how best to tackle cancer. A conference being held today will bring together delegates to review recent developments within cancer services, including key areas of work in cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis and follow-up, with the aim of determining where next we need to address our energies in Northern Ireland.
