A child’s experiences in early life have a massive impact on their later experiences, a groundbreaking international conference being held in Belfast heard today [29 May]. The event, hosted by the Public Health Agency (PHA) and the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and held at Stormont, featured experts from the USA, Scotland and Northern Ireland, bringing the issue of early years to the heart of government.

Many people may not be aware that skin cancer is the number one cancer in Northern Ireland and accounts for more than a quarter of all people diagnosed with the disease.
Northern Ireland AAA Screening Programme due to begin in June
The Northern Ireland AAA Screening Programme is set to begin in June 2012 and will offer AAA screening to all men in their 65th year in Northern Ireland. The aim of the programme is to reduce AAA-related mortality by providing systematic, population-based screening using a simple ultrasound scan.
